Announcement, building layer-2 for Nervos CKB
We will work on a layer-2 scaling solution for the Nervos ecosystem. Utilizing the concept of Optimistic Rollups, a method to increase throughput by bundling transactions, we hope to advance Nervos CKB to the next level of its scalability roadmap.

An overview of Quadratic Voting.
The most commonly used form of voting is one where each voter gets one vote per issue. This, however, relies on one underlying assumption: That every voter cares the same amount for each issue, an assumption which rarely coincidences with reality. A world where only the views of the majority count may know another problem: the so-called "tyranny of the majority". (John Stuart Mill: On Liberty)

A comparison of Layer 2 scaling solutions.
LeapDAO has developed a Plasma chain and launched a Mainnet during the last year. With this background at the turn of this year we went back to the drawing board to analyze what options we should explore to encapsulate all developments in the area of Layer 2 research. The following article will especially focus on the pros and cons of Plasma and Roll-Ups.

How we integrate bounties, Holacracy and Colony reputation
LeapDAO is a distributed team and strives to be truly decentralized. As a developer cooperative LeapDAO uses the holacracy governance model to structure teams and budgets in alignment with its purpose and roadmap. Holacracy is an extremely dynamic framework which serves us well, a model which gives responsibility to every single developer. It encourages every member to work like an entrepreneur within a company, always working for the benefit of himself, the others and the collective. LeapDAO is structured in circles, you can imagine them as departments or domains. Regular meetings and calls help us stay aligned with our strategies and purpose. Circles are teams such as the "dev" circle or independent ecosystem projects such as Deora. The structure is constantly evolving, Glassfrog is the software of our choice to keep track of it.

Plasma Mainnet on hold, here is why...
Plasma bundles up transactions in blocks and anchors them on the mainnet as hashes. Through this compression Plasma enables fast transactions at a fraction of the cost.

The Prime Casino demonstrates the ability of the EVM Enforcer to exceed Ethereum limits.
Large prime numbers play an important role in cryptography. Specifically the difficulty of factorization of large numbers enables RSA and other algorithms. Some contract in the Ethereum ecosystem also depend on primality tests like RSA accumulators and special Plasma Cash proofs.

How CAS will enable a multi-validator setup of the Leap Network.
In a regular Plasma setup, network validators are submitting checkpoints of the chain data (we call them periods) to the root chain. It may happen that a validator submits a period without exposing data for it (a "dark period"). It may happen on purpose, if an operator is malicious, or may happen due to a technical failure on a validator side. In both cases, users are supposed to periodically monitor the chain and exit in case they witness data withholding. In general it is safe for users, however, it greatly affects the liveness of the network — a single technical failure of an otherwise honest operator may lead to a dark period and thus to a mass exit and network halt. Moreover, we want to avoid a mass exit situation as the root network may become congested.

Herr Müller, your favorite bureaucrat from the future, explains what happened during the last simulation of Planet A.
This is your extra-terrestrial and time-traveling bureaucrat Herr Müller speaking. I'm contacting you today to inform you about the work you and your fellow terrestrials have done on "Planet A" during EthBerlinZwei and Chaos Communication Camp 2019.

Summary of the new Leap Mainnet governance proposals
In accordance with our Minimum Viable Governance, changes will become effective in 7 days. Till that moment you can review proposed changes and exit the network if you object.

Mainnet incident happened on 17 June 2019. Funds are safe.
LEAP network is still in its PoA era and the mainnet validator is operated by LeapDAO. To ensure better validator uptime, we were running two copies of the same validator (sharing the same signing key): one copy is proposing blocks and the other is just passively following the chain. The plan was that in case of the proposing node failure, we should be able to quickly switch over to the backup node making it active. Well, don't try this at home. The setup appeared to be dangerous — we needed to make sure that at no point both copies are producing blocks at the same time.

LeapDAO transforming the film industry with on-chain rights management.
Until recently, applying Plasma solutions to real life problems seemed like a far away endeavour, but already now it’s slowly and steadily becoming reality. Beginning with pop up economies at ETH Denver and Blocksplit, we saw Burner Wallet’s potential for easy onboarding. Now, we move on to an even more interesting and excited challenge!

Best LeapDAO dApps and game submitted during the Ethereal Virtual Hackathon.
LeapDAO sponsored the hackathon along with Gitcoin, Microsoft and others. We were very happy with the level of submitted projects targeting our challenges and the enthusiasm of participants. Read on to find out more about what was being hacked and who are the golden winners.

PoS to lead Ethereum to mass-adoption.
We are proud to announce a new consensus algorithm, Proof of Slaps. This consensus algorithm intgrates Plasma to unite the blockchain community and achieve mass-adoption.

It's name is Testnet Zeta, and Testnet Zeta will have 57002 blocks forever.
DAI stablecoin registered on the Leap Plasma chain
DAI, the first decentralized stablecoin on the Ethereum blockchain has been a real game changer for the Ethereum ecosystem, especially in the midst of ETH price crash. DAI is pegged to the value of USD which means that every DAI is worth \$1, regardless of how much DAI is in existence. Moreover, due to the fact that DAI is backed by Ether locked in smart contracts called Collateralized Debt Positions (CDP), it cannot be shut down like other centralized stable coins, and can be freely traded and exchanged without middlemen like any other ERC20 token.

Ethereum Foundation grant for "Plasma Leap"
The new wave of grants is focused on supporting projects working on the critical efforts related to layer-2 and Eth 2.0. LeapDAO’s work on lifting the execution of smart contracts onto a layer-2 blockchain aligns with that purpose.

LeapDAO took a leap to the Ethereum mainnet. 🎉
If you are a project creating digital assets, we invite you to register your ERC20 or ERC721, which will be transferable faster and cheaper on the Plasma chain. For developers, we provide a token faucet so that you can test transfers, exits and deposits.
LeapDAO's Roadmap to enable general computation on Plasma.
This solution will extend the capacity of Ethereum not only for the transfers of funds, but also for the execution of rules. At the heart of this task is the SolEVM Enforcer, a computation verification game that allows for enforcing the off-chain execution of EVM bytecode. This SolEVM is composed of 3 parts:

The Roadmap from More Viable Plasma to Plasma Leap.
Specifically, we want layer-2 scaling infrastructure to be as easily and openly usable for developers as the mainnet is today. Developing and using dApps on Plasma, a framework for incentivized and enforced smart contract execution, should be fast and seamless.

A commitment to openness and sovereignty under LeapDAO.
This period has also shifted our relationship with decision-making and self-governance. We evolved from a flat-org consisting of a few freelancers to a tension-processing and opportunity sniffing Holacracy organization.
